This Mid-Century Modern office building in downtown Palo Alto was transformed into a luminous and airy corporate headquarters. On the exterior, clear and translucent glass was used to define the difference between public and private spaces, plus creates a façade that glows when illuminated from the inside at night. On the interior, existing dropped ceilings were replaced with three clerestories, contrasting the horizontality of the roof and bringing light into the major public spaces. Private offices were enhanced with visual and physical connections to two garden courtyards, while the break room was accentuated with a bright punch of color. The resulting spaces are characterized by minimal, modern detailing and a sense of openness.
