Creekside House
San Mateo County, California

The simple shed roof, natural wood siding and crisp metal windows of this house epitomize the characteristics of the California modern style. Set along a creek on the rural San Mateo coast, an awkward, undistinguished house was dramatically re-imagined through the reconfiguration of the building’s form, replacement of the exterior materials, the addition of new outdoor living spaces and the thoughtful integration with a new meadow and gardens.
