Deconstructed Luminosity
San Francisco, California

For Break the Cycle, a fundraiser for the non-profit New Door Ventures, design teams were tasked with repurposing a bicycle into something new. Inspired by the shape of the bicycle itself and the classic arc lamp from the 1960s, our fixture really breaks the cycle. This modern floor lamp emits a glow both from the resin base and its cantilevered steel arm. Intended as a series, each lamp will be unique. With a layered play of solid and void, transparency and textures, a bike sits somewhere amidst the glowing base. Where is it?
