Nob Hill Pied-à-terre
As a home for a Bay Area bachelor, this Nob Hill residence, nicknamed “Dashiell Hammett meets James Bond” fuses urban sophistication with sensual modern design. The existing steel-framed windows in this Art Deco building frame sweeping city views, casting cinematic light and shadow that influenced the renovation’s signature architectural feature. A custom steel and glass partition replaces a formerly solid wall, opening the kitchen and enhancing panoramic views. This screen creates transparency and enclosure, reinforcing the home’s refined yet moody aesthetic. Simple walnut casework, stone countertops, and ceramic subway tile provide a crisp, tailored backdrop.
